JV girls’ basketball
The Cardinals suffered a disappointing loss to Buffalo Saturday 54-24.
The Bison were an athletic, disciplined team that rattled the Cardinals’ patience on the press breaker as well.
Alexandria was never able to match their opponent’s intensity, which resulted in the huge scoring gap.
The Cards did a nice job from the free throw line, shooting 8-for-12.
B squad girls’ basketball
The Alexandria ‘B’ squad improved to 5-0 on the season with a hard fought 39-29 win over the Bison of Buffalo.
After a slow first half that ended with the Cards ahead 15-10, both teams picked up the intensity and started playing a stronger brand of ball. The game was within one point with four minutes left, when Cara Wood hit two 3-pointers within minutes of each other to push the lead to a comfortable point where the Cards could use their strong defensive work ethic to close the game.
The Cards were led by Cara Wood with 16, while Lauren Trumm had seven, Bri Ebert six, Lauren Johnson five, Mo Eigen two, Whitney Gessel two and Joie Warnes one.
