If you looked to the southwest after sunset Monday night, you may have witnessed a rare celestial occurrence, as the crescent Moon, Venus and Jupiter all appeared very close together in the sky.
In what was being called the “best planetary gathering of the year,” the three brightest objects in the night sky were all within just a couple of degrees of each other.
The two planets came closest together Sunday night, but Monday also featured the crescent moon in close proximity to the two planets.
