Elks Hoop Shoot set
Area youth can compete for a trip to the state contest
All area kids ages 8-13 have a chance to show off their basketball abilities in the Elks National Free Throw “Hoop Shoot” Contest in Alexandria this January.
Contestants will competing with their respective age groups, determined by the athlete’s age as of April 1, 2009. Contestants advance through local, district, state, regional and national levels. One boy and one girl in each of the three age categories, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13, will win a national title at the finals in Springfield, Massachusetts.
All area youths are invited to participate in the Free Throw “Hoop Shoot” Contest, which takes place on January 4 in the Jefferson High School Gym at 1 p.m. Contestants are asked to show up about a half hour early to get registered in their respective age groups.
Winners from each division advance to the district shoot in Wadena later in January with a chance to advance to the state shoot from there.
