The Alexandria Area Youth Trap League wrapped up its 18-week season with a season ending awards banquet on October 11 to recognize a group of great area shooters.
State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen was on hand to speak to those in attendance and to help hand out the awards. A total of 49 youths received recognition for their accomplishments.
The top two teams from each division in the league received medals. First place in the Pro Division went to Team Royal Blue with Joshua Gebhardt, Aaron Lund, Phillip Krueger, Blaine Green, Clayton Stotesbery and Nick Jibben. In the Rookie Division, Team Orange consisting of Taylor Esbjornsson, Sam Goetsch, Elliot Jacobson, Max Jacobson and Cody Parkin took home first-place honors.
The highest individual award of the night went to Joshua Gebhardt who earned the Distinguished Expert in the NRA Shotgun Qualification Program by successfully completing the requirements set in the official trap course of fire.
Other Awards were won by Taylor Olson as the most improved shooter. Blaine Green took the Top Gun Award, shooting 417 out of 450 targets. Nine youths took home NRA Marksmanship Awards, including O’Ryan Bosek and Crystal Bosek who won Marksman 1st Class Awards.
Cody Lund, Travis Lund and Amanda Schmidt each earned Sharpshooter Awards, while Josh Schmidt, Phillip Krueger and Aaron Lund rounded out the night by taking home Expert Awards.
All the shooters who completed the full 18-week schedule were also eligible to win a shotgun. Spencer Jacobson was the winner of this year’s giveaway.
