Carlos Creek Winery is proud to host its first-ever “Applefest.”

The event, which will feature many different activities, will take place Saturday, October 11 in celebration of the completion of the apple harvest.

Applefest will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature the local comedy duo of Tina and Lena, Mark Kurtz, “The Chainsaw Guy,” glass blowing demonstrations, live music by Bruce Nelson, hay rides, art, food and craft vendors, a giant bonfire from 6 to 8 p.m., a barn dance featuring ’57 Chevy from 8 p.m. to midnight and much more.

Nelson will perform half-hour sets between noon and 6 p.m. inside the winery; Tina and Lena plan to perform 30-minute shows at noon, 2 p.m. and at 4 p.m. in the barn; and The Chainsaw Guy will be in the outdoor arena doing shows at 11 a.m., 1, 3 and 5 p.m.

And The Chainsaw Guy will pick 10 kids from the audience during each show and carve their names into a piece of wood and then the kids will get to keep it as a souvenir. In addition, the piece of work he completes during the Applefest will be auctioned off via a silent auction.

The Applefest does not have an admission charge, but there will be a $5 cover charge for the barn dance, and there is a $2 fee per car for on-site parking.

An apple bobbing contest and a pumpkin-carving contest will also take place – by age categories, including 5-8, 9-12, 13-16 and 17 and older.

Festival visitors will have a chance to vote for their favorite pumpkins by purchasing a ballot for $1. All proceeds from the pumpkin voting will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Carlos Creek Winery Honeycrisp apples will be available to purchase, plus festival-goers can shop from the many vendors, including St. Mary’s School, which will be selling apple pies, the Farmer’s Market, plus dozens more art, craft and food vendors.
