The Ashby football team could not pick up its first win of the season last Friday as the Arrows fell in their homecoming game to Bertha-Hewitt, 54-14.
The Arrows tallied 276 total yards of offense, but that was not enough as the Bears jumped out to a 32-0 lead after the first quarter. They added another touchdown and a two-point conversion to that before halftime as they took a 40-8 lead into the break.
Ashby ran the ball for 176 yards, led by Sean Saxton who had 65 yards on eight carries. The defense was led by Drew Hanson and Zach Carter who had 12 and 11 tackles, respectively.
The Arrows fell to 0-6 with the loss. They travel to Herman tonight, Friday, for a game against the 4-2 Chokio-Alberta/Herman-Norcross Spartans. The Spartans are coming off a 43-14 win over Brandon-Evansville last week.
