None of the Alexandria area anglers could come away with a new Ranger during the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour’s Tournament of Champions on September 20.

None of the Alexandria area anglers could come away with a new Ranger during the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour’s Tournament of Champions on September 20.

The final stop of the tour featured 20 of the top pros and 20 amateur partners with the winning pro taking home a new Ranger Z19 with a Yamaha 225.

Clarence Rasmussen, Josh Wilcox and Cory Putnam were all in the running for the $50,000 prize but it was Pat Martin who came away with it as he and amateur partner David Main came away with the victory on Green Lake in Chisago City with a six-fish limit weighing in at 16.68 pounds.

Rasmussen was the highest finisher of the three area anglers. He came in 12th with a limit weighing in at 10.98 pounds. Wilcox finished in 15th place, while Putnam finished with four fish and in 17th place.

It was a great summer for all three local anglers. Putnam got a first-place finish and a $10,000 check at the Lake Minnewaska stop on July 12. That helped him to a second-place finish in the Angler of the Year standings on the Tour.

Wilcox and Rasmussen were not far behind in the field of 62 professional anglers. Wilcox finished eighth in the standings, and Rasmussen was 11th with 24 fish weighing in at 59.58 pounds.
