The Cardinal volleyball team took care of business in three games against a team that had won three straight coming into their contest against Alexandria last Thursday night.
The Cardinals made short work of Sauk Rapids-Rice with wins of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-7 to remain unbeaten in the Central Lakes Conference.
“The girls were strong and powerful right from the start in game one and never paused to give Sauk Rapids a chance to get back in the game,” head coach Becky Anderson said. “We started out with a few big blocks from Ari Carlson and Angela Christianson to shut down one of the opponent’s key players right away.”
Game two saw Sauk Rapids put up a better fight, but the Cardinals were able to persevere for the two-point win. Game three was then all Alexandria as the Cardinals cruised to a three-game sweep.
“Sauk Rapids really forced us to play our ‘A’ game in order to get the win,” Anderson said. “It was nice to see some competition and to be forced to step our game up. Had the girls not been able to do this, it could have been a different story.”
