Football: Ashby gridders fall to HLA
The No. 10 ranked Comets blanked the Arrows 28-0
The Ashby football team was shut out last Friday as the Hillcrest Comets came away with a 28-0 win over the Arrows.
Hillcrest had 395 yards of total offense compared to the Arrows’ 265. The majority of the yards for the Comets came on the ground where they ran for 255 yards on 38 carries.
“The boys did some good things tonight and are starting to make some improvements that are helping them to be more competitive,” head coach Joey Andreasen said.
The Arrows had an efficient day on the ground with 134 yards. Sean Saxton led the way with 62 yards on 14 carries.
Turnovers cost the Arrows in this one, though. Ashby turned the ball over six times with three fumbles and three interceptions.
The loss dropped them to 0-4 on the season. They will try to get that first win against Underwood tonight, Friday. The Rockets have dropped three straight to Verndale, Bertha-Hewitt and Eagle Valley.
