Free seminars offer educational information on estate planning and charitable giving

The Knute Nelson Foundation and Alexandria Technical College Foundation are joining efforts to host educational workshops on estate planning and charitable giving.

The Knute Nelson Foundation and Alexandria Technical College Foundation are joining efforts to host educational workshops on estate planning and charitable giving.

There will be two free seminars daily on Wednesday, September 17, and Thursday, September 18. Attendees may choose to attend the 10-11:30 a.m. session or the 5:30-7 p.m. session.

Sessions will be held in the Governor’s Room at Nelson Gables at 1220 Nokomis in Alexandria. Meals will be served. RSVPs are required to (320) 759-3495 by Wednesday, September 10.

The workshops are designed to provide attendees with practical, informative and useful information to assist them in considering personal and financial affairs. Attorney Lisa Bowen will speak about the importance of estate planning, while Cindy Aegerter, gift planner at the Lutheran Community Foundation, will explore ways charitable giving could enhance estate planning.

Lisa Bowen is an attorney with Thornton, Reif, Dolan, Bowen and Klecker, P.A. in Alexandria. Bowen focuses her legal practice in the areas of estate planning, tax, elder law, probate and trusts, as well as business and business succession planning. Bowen graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of arts degree. She graduated with honors from Hamline University School of Law.

Cindy Aegerter is a member of the Charitable Giving Services team at the Lutheran Community Foundation. As a gift planner, she consults with donors and their financial advisors to develop giving solutions that meet their charitable and financial goals. Additionally, she works with the charitable organizations and congregations that hold their endowments at the Lutheran Community Foundation to help them promote planned giving. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oregon.
