If you’re planning to drive on the freeway east of Alexandria in the next couple of weeks, expect some delays coming back into town.
A paving project on the westbound Interstate 94 lanes will begin Wednesday, September 3.
The stretch of road under construction is from the Douglas/Todd County line to about three-quarters of a mile east of Douglas County Road 17 (the road into Nelson).
Crews will be performing milling and bituminous paving operations.
Motorists should expect lane closures where crews are working and watch for trucks hauling in and around the work zone, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 miles per hour through the work zone, MnDOT added.
MnDOT reminds motorists to slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
