Fishing for a big one
Cosgrove top amateur in Pro-Am Bass Tour
Brandon’s Cory Putnam was looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour this past weekend on the Alexandria Chain of Lakes.
Putnam was not able to pull off another victory as he and his amateur partner Doug Geiser finished 13th overall with a six-fish limit weighing in at 12.56 pounds.
Pro angler Leroy Ranstrom and Ryan Johnson made sure that the distance between first and second place was not even close. Ranstrom and Johnson won the event at Arrowwood by more than six pounds with a limit weighing in at 21 pounds.
The top local angler at the event was Terry Crosgrove of Carlos. Crosgrove and his partner Brian Buhr finished ninth on the chain with a total weight of 13.09 pounds.
Other local anglers that finished in the top 25 included Alexandria’s Josh Wilcox and Clarence Rasmussen. Wilcox finished 18th on the Chain of Lakes, and Rasmussen came in 22nd.
All four of these local anglers maintained or advanced their positions in the Angler of the Year standings. Putnam moved from fourth into second place with 152 points and an 18-fish limit weighing in at 52.25 pounds.
Wilcox also made a jump, going from sixth place after two events to third place after the stop at Arrowwood. He currently sits with 139 points and a total weight of 47.12 pounds.
Rasmussen maintained his position in the standings at No. 7. His 18-fish limit has totaled 46.75 pounds so far this summer, while Crosgrove moved from 35th to 22nd place with his top-10 finish.
The next stop on the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour comes on Friday, September 12 at Lord Fletcher’s on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park. The tour will then wrap up its schedule on Saturday, September 20 with the Tournament of Champions.
