Leland, Aldrich in battle for Women’s crown

Two defending champions are both in the championship flight for the 2008 Women’s Division of the Resorters Golf Tournament.

Maggie Leland of Alexandria, last year’s Women’s Division champ, and Betsy Aldrich of St. Louis Park, the 2007 Executive Women’s Division titlist, both qualified for this year’s combined division.

Amanda Woodhull of Minnetonka is the 2008 medalist after shooting a 2-over-par 74 during qualifying, edging Molly Leland of Alexandria by two strokes.

Aldrich shot a qualifying round of 77.

Molly Leland, last year’s qualifying medalist, is also among the players in the championship flight.

Aldrich is the 2003 Women’s Division champion as well as holding the Women’s medalist honors in 1992, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. She is also the 2007 Executive Women’s medalist.

Also in this year’s field is two-time Women’s champion, Connie Sornsin of Goodyear, Arizona. She won the tournament title in 2002 and 2004.
