A garage/bake sale fundraiser for the MEE Awards will take place in Alexandria on Saturday, August 16.
The MEE Awards – Motivate, Educate and Excel – are given annually in memory of Lee Hunter, a former Alexandria student. The awards recognize the achievements of students in alternative schooling or self-improvement programs.
Over the past two years, the award program has expanded from two awards to 13.
Those who want to donate to the cause may bring pre-priced clean, gently used clothing, household items, sporting equipment, baked goods and other items to the Knights of Columbus Hall on Friday, August 15 between 2 and 7 p.m.
The sale will take place at the Knights of Columbus from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. the next day. All unsold items will be donated to help others in need.
Monetary donations can be made to the Lee Hunter Award Program at Bremer Bank in Alexandria.
