The Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour will be making a stop on the Chain of Lakes in Alexandria on Saturday, August 16 at the Arrowwood Resort.
The stop will be a chance for fans to check out a number of area anglers, including Brandon’s Corey Putnam and Alexandria’s Josh Wilcox and Clarence Rasmussen. All three were in the top 10 in the Angler of the Year Standings after the stop on Lake Minnewaska on July 12.
The Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour has the biggest tournament payout of any tour in the Midwest. Each tour stop pays out more than $33,000 in cash to the top 12 finishing professional and amateur anglers, with more than $200,000 in cash and prizes handed out for the five events.
“We’re proud to have this great event come to our area,” general manager of Alexandria Motors Bill Nettleton said. “We’re expecting big crowds, excitement and the chance for everyone in the area to get a look at some of the biggest bass caught and released in Alexandria lakes.”
The public is encouraged to attend and cheer on their favorite professional and amateur anglers. Opening ceremonies begin at 7 a.m. with Ranger and Yamaha boat displays, test drives, sponsor product demonstrations and displays and fan prize drawings going on throughout the day.
Weigh-in festivities begin at 3 p.m. with angler awards and the Big Bass Showcase following immediately after.
The final two tour stops come on September 12 at Lord Fletcher’s in Spring Park on Lake Minnetonka and on September 20 at Frankies Marine in the Chisago Lakes Area.
The September 20 stop will feature the Tournament of Champions where more than $62,000 in cash and prizes will be handed out. The grand prize is a 2008 Ranger Z-19 bass boat with a Yamaha 225 motor, which will go to the top placing pro angler.
