This Fourth of July holiday brings a three-day weekend for travelers.

The Fourth falls on a Friday. For many, that means no work – just play. So, do you know where to watch the fireworks?

Here is a list of Fourth of July celebrations for the Alexandria lakes area and surrounding towns:

Alexandria

Star Storm 2008 is scheduled for Friday, July 4 on the front lawn of Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Alexandria.

The fireworks display, which will take place at 10 p.m. sharp, will be choreographed to music. Viewers are encouraged to tune their radios to 92.3 KXRA FM.

Before the fireworks begin, there will be games, food and entertainment. KXRA will be broadcasting live from the lakeside lawn at Arrowwood.

Organizers suggest people start looking for a good seat early. Parking will be available at the Arrowwood stables on County Road 22 and shuttles, provided by Rainbow Rider, will start at 7 p.m.

Viking Speedway

Colorful fireworks will also explode on Saturday, July 5 at the Viking Speedway immediately following the races – approximately at 10:30 p.m.

Osakis

The Osakis Fire Department will ignite the sky with fireworks at dusk from the Osakis Country Club Friday, July 4.

Local businesses, clubs and citizens made this event possible through their donations. This year, a hat will be passed around the golf course to collect contributions to help fund next year’s fireworks show.

Those hoping to get a front row seat for the show in the sky can bring a chair or blanket and watch from the Osakis Golf Course.

Big Chip Lake

The 21st annual boat parade will be held at 2 p.m. on the Fourth of July at Ramsdell Beach.

Lake Carlos Parade

The 29th annual Lake Carlos Fourth of July boat parade will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Carlos-Darling bridge on Friday, July 4. Participants are asked to please stay in single file during the parade.

West Union

Join or watch the 20th annual West Union Fourth of July Parade starting at 2 p.m. on Friday.

A potluck dinner will commence afterward at the West Union Park.

If joining the potluck, please bring a dish to pass, plates, silverware and your own beverages.
