Four motorcycles crash in area

A motorcycle crash Saturday on Highway 27 West at the intersection of East Lake Mary Road sent the driver to the hospital.

Craig Erickson, 44, of Alexandria was traveling westbound on Highway 27 behind three other vehicles, when one of them stopped to turn left onto East Lake Mary Road, according to the State Patrol.

Erickson lost control of the motorcycle, skidded and then was thrown from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m.

Air care was summoned, but then cancelled.

Erickson was taken to the Douglas County Hospital where he was treated and released.

According to the State Patrol, there were four motorcycle crashes on Saturday afternoon in a three-county area – Douglas, Pope and Todd – within a two and a half hour period.
