Todd County votes against closing Osakis Lake Road
At a June 12 meeting, the board considered a request by a group of landowners to vacate County Road 55 near Osakis.
Todd County commissioners voted against vacating the Osakis Lake Road Thursday.
At a June 12 meeting, the board considered a request by a group of landowners to vacate County Road 55 near Osakis.
The board initially considered the petition at its March 18 meeting, with a public hearing held in Osakis in May.
According to the board resolution:
• The vacation of County Road 55 would effect access to a number of residential dwellings, including creating undue burden and expense for two property owners.
• The board finds it in the best interest of the county not to continue to expend resources to vacate the road.
• County Road 55 provides unique historic value to the residents of Todd County.
• The vacation of County Road 55 runs contrary to the Todd County Comprehensive Plan.
•The board found, after thorough investigation, it is in the best interest of the county to deny the petition.
A roll call vote resulted in a yes to deny the petition from Mark Blessing, Gary Kneisl, David Kircher and Randy Neumann. Mark Nelson voted no.
