The Lakes Area Humane Society will be sponsoring an Advanced Dog Obedience Training Class starting on Tuesday, June 10 at 6 p.m.
All dogs who have mastered the following basic obedience skills: heel, sit, stay and come, are welcome. The class will focus on perfecting those skills and will teach recall, down and working off leash.
The classes will be held on five consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and will be taught by local professional dog trainer Randy Buker.
The classes will be held at the Lakes Area Humane Society shelter located at 3811 Nevada Street in Alexandria. The first class on June 10 will be without dogs present.
Cost for the five week course is $60 per dog enrolled and class size is limited to the first 15 registrants.
Buker’s experience spans back to his childhood where he was always surrounded by at least one dog. Over the years he has been a professional trainer where he trained customers' dogs for obedience and hunting and acted as a consultant for a variety of behavior issues.
He has written numerous articles on dog behavior and training. He has taught many obedience classes and has been involved in the individual training of literally hundreds of dogs.
To register, contact the LAHS shelter at (320) 759-2260.
