LifeRight Outreach welcomes the community to its inaugural kick-off/grand opening celebration on Saturday, May 31.

There will be games starting at 2 p.m., a hog roast at 4 p.m. and a worship service starting at 6 p.m.

Other Christian ministries will also be featured for people to learn more about.

As a Christian-based transitional/transformational housing program, LifeRight exists to assist at-risk men in gaining confidence, support and training as they seek new identities.

LifeRight’s goal is not limited to rehabilitation. Instead of just getting men back on their feet, the organization seeks to change their entire path.

LifeRight is the brainchild of Mark Foss. His history is found within the drug culture – addiction, sales, prison and a cycle of rehabilitation programs that he said focused on surface behaviors but overlooked the deeper issues of the heart.

Foss said his path changed when he discovered the “dead-serious truths of sin” and the life-changing newness offered through Jesus Christ.

Foss’ wife, Nikol, shared a similar past. Together, their passion is to offer new hope to a hurting culture.

“Tough Love” will earmark the LifeRight program.

“The drug culture is far too vast to imagine helping everyone,” Foss said. “We’ll take only those who manifest and maintain an attitude of change. Those just pondering lifestyle changes need not apply. We’ll get serious about you when you get serious about you!”

Participation in the program is completely voluntary; it is neither a detainee facility nor a state appropriated halfway house.

Employment is mandated and community service and activities strongly suggested. The newly remodeled LifeRight Outreach Center is located at 1906 6th Avenue East, Alexandria (former Faith Community Reformed Church building).

The building will house up to 10 individuals with ample space for teaching, training and Christian living. LifeRight is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization.
