Baseball: Apollo upends Card nine in CLC play

The Cardinal baseball team ran into St. Cloud Apollo on the wrong day last Friday as the Eagles pounded out 17 hits to upend Alexandria 13-3.

The Cardinals held a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning on a Walker Giroux RBI single. That lead was short lived, though, as the Eagles answered back with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Apollo never trailed again as they scored three in the fourth and six more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Giroux and Dylan Carlson each had two hits apiece for Alexandria.

The Cardinals hoped to end the regular season on a positive note last night, Tuesday, as they finished up their schedule with a game against Fergus Falls. Section playoffs begin for Alexandria on Memorial Day, with the Cardinals likely starting the playoffs in Brainerd.
