Card boys drop to Rocori on diamond
The 10-day layoff proves costly for the baseball team
A 13-3 loss to Rocori greeted the Cardinal baseball team as they returned to the diamond after a long layoff Friday.
“It has been 10 days since our last game, and the rust was obvious on this night,” said Cardinal coach Russ Hinrichs.
Alexandria needed six pitchers to get through the five-inning contest, and 15 walks contributed to the loss.
The Redbirds led early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the second as Dylan Carlson, Walker Giroux and Zach Beireis each had hits.
Giroux paced the Cardinals with a 2-for-2 performance, driving in a run and scoring twice.
Derek Miller took the pitching loss.
Alexandria will be facing St. Cloud Tech tomorrow, Thursday. They were to have played Sartell last night, Tuesday.
