Ice Fishing Challenge still a go

Get ready to weather winter on Saturday, hearty anglers.

Get ready to weather winter on Saturday, hearty anglers.

Despite a bitterly cold, bone chilling forecast, the 8th annual Ice Fishing Challenge on Lake L’Homme Dieu is scheduled to run as planned.

Saturday’s high isn’t expected to climb much higher than 3 below. And winds will gust upwards of 35 mph, creating dangerous wind chills.

Challenge organizers are taking additional precautions – and are advising anglers to do the same.

Extra shelters and warming houses will be available on the ice.

Those fishing should dress appropriately – many layers, boots, mittens – to ensure they stay warm.

However, if you have a ticket and choose to forego the afternoon on the ice, your ticket is transferable to another angler.
