St. Mary's School team takes first in math competition
The 6th grade team from St. Mary’s School in Alexandria took first place honors at the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge at Woodland Elementary School in Alexandria on March 8.
The 6th grade team from St. Mary’s School in Alexandria took first place honors at the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge at Woodland Elementary School in Alexandria on March 8.
The team consists of Parker Olson, Noah Huss, Meagan Wentworth, Makia Krippner and Lauren Russell.
Individually, Krippner was 17th in the fact drill, and Russell placed first for the problem-solving portion. The team coach is Angie Nelson.
One-hundred eighty students competed individually and as teams on eight sets of mathematical problems.
Math Masters is designed to promote excellence in critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities as well as provide recognition to students for academic effort and achievement.
