Alexandria was a slice of heaven last Saturday for those who are into decoys and carving.
The ninth annual Rudy Zwieg Decoy Show took place at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. More than 3,000 people were expected to attend the free event, which is sponsored by the Midstate Chapter of the Minnesota Darkhouse and Angling Association.
It featured carving competitions, seminars, silent auctions, vendors, children’s face painting and more. A northern pike fish decoy carved by the 2013 Mid-State Carver of the Year, Snook Barrett from Osakis, was auctioned off at the end of the event, along with other prizes.
