• Miracles of Mitch Foundation (MOMF) in Chanhassen announced that Brian Nelson will join the organization as its new executive director on March 25.
Nelson brings nearly 30 years of non-profit leadership and development experience. He has held executive leadership positions at health oriented organizations such as Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF), American Cancer Society, Memorial Blood Centers, and Allina Hospice Foundation.
Nelson is a 1978 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria and a 1982 graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead.
• Edina Realty, a real estate firm, named the following realtors from the Alexandria office members of the Edina Realty’s Presidents and Leadership Circles:
Presidents Circle – Carl Kvale, Sheryle West, Dale and Debbie Wussow, Wendie VanKirk.
Leadership Circle – Sue Palmquist.
Members of Edina Realty’s circles are those who achieved an outstanding level of sales and customer service in 2012.
• Glik’s recently unveiled “Made In USA” shops in its stores. Glik’s has teamed up with manufacturers in the Los Angeles Fashion District that utilize their designers and factories to provide Glik’s customers with American-made fashion.
In addition, these California-based clothing manufacturers can provide quick response to fashion trends, enabling Glik’s customers to purchase the latest fashions and support U.S. workers.
• Apol’s Harley Davidson in Alexandria was awarded Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s Bronze Bar and Shield Circle of Recognition Award for the region. The award was given based on Apol’s motorcycle and related product sales, performance, an evaluation of customer service and satisfaction and various operational measures.
• Douglas Scientific, a provider of Array Tape, appointed Jamie Loken to the position of software engineering manager. In this position, Loken will be responsible for overseeing the development of software architecture, products and systems for Douglas Scientific.
Prior to joining Douglas Scientific, Loken served as senior manager technology at Tastefully Simple. Loken has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Minnesota State University at Mankato.
• Marco, Inc. recently received the 2013 Community Impact Award from Minnesota Business Magazine. The company was honored with the Best in Class Award for midsize companies for excelling at giving back to the community. The inaugural Community Impact Awards was held in February at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota campus.
Marco has donated at least 5 percent of its annual profits to the communities it serves. Marco also sponsors community events, participates in fundraising and encourages employees to serve on boards for nonprofits on company time.
Marco has offices in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa.
• Sandy Kouba is a recipient of Knute Nelson’s (KN) Tree of Excellence award. This award is the highest level of recognition through the KN Employee Recognition Program.
Kouba has been employed at KN for more than 15 years as a care attendant at Nelson Gables. She was nominated by her peers, who said that she “seeks ways to brighten the days of the residents, is always laughing and goes above and beyond for residents.”
