Letter - Believe anything you want; here are facts about global warming

In response to Lowell’s Anderson’s “Our Turn” column about global warming, Echo Press, March 1, Page 4:

The Global Warming Petition Mr. Lowell Anderson cites is, in fact, masquerading as something else. The petition first emerged in April 1998 spearheaded by Art Robinson (look him up) and the Exxon-backed George C Marshall Institute in Oregon. The petition was so misleading, that the National Academy of Science issued a news release stating: “The petition project was a deliberate attempt to mislead scientists (and the public) and rally them in an attempt to undermine support for the Kyoto Protocol. The petition was not based on a review of the science of global climate science.” That is a fact.

Mr. Anderson, you even state, “some of the signers are even climate scientists” Did you check how many? Thirty-nine of the 30,000 signers of the petition are climatologists.

Mr. Anderson, you are entitled to believe anything you want. But the facts are that people who study this topic, who know what they are talking about do not share your beliefs. They follow the evidence and the facts.
