Isabelle Martinson, 97

Isabelle (Sandberg) Martinson was born August 29, 1915 in Aitken, the daughter of George and Bertha (Garrett) Sandberg.

Isabelle (Sandberg) Martinson was born August 29, 1915 in Aitken, the daughter of George and Bertha (Garrett) Sandberg. She attended grade school in Malmo, high school in Aitken, and went to business college in Minneapolis. She was employed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Aitken, Preston and Alexandria at the Veteran's Administration, the Chamber of Commerce, Shulind Construction, KXRA Radio and the Alexandria School District.

Isabelle was married to Clarence “Kelly” Martinson on November 7, 1942 at Cokato Lutheran Church in Cokato. He passed away in January of 2002.

In July of 1946, they moved to Alexandria where Kelly was employed as the administrator of the Alexandra Clinic, where he worked until retirement.

Isabelle was active in her church, Calvary Lutheran, in Alexandria. Being an avid golfer, she was president of the women's auxiliary at the Alexandria Golf Club as well as holding other offices there and winning the President's Trophy. She was always socially active in the community with Girl Scouts and other charities as well.

In May of 2008, Isabelle moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter, where she resided until her peaceful passing March 6, 2013. She will be dearly missed by friends and family and always remembered as a lady.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Franke and husband, John, and grand daughter, Kelly Jo Velez and husband, Adam. She has one surviving sister, Opal Arvidson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandra. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery.
