Section 8-3A BBB: Otters finish off Alex in section semifinals

The Alexandria boys' basketball team had no answer for Otters' senior forward Mike Millard as Fergus Falls beat the Cardinals 70-60 in the section semifinals Monday night.
Millard had a game-high 29 points, capping things off with an emphatic one-handed dunk in the final minutes before letting out a scream. He attacked the basket from the get-go and led the Otters to a 32-22 lead at the break with 15 points in the first half. Fergus Falls never let it get away from them after that, as the Otters punched their ticket to the section finals against Sartell.
"Millard works his [butt] off," Alexandria senior forward Logan Doyle said. "That's just what he does. He's not the most talented. He'll tell you that, I know he will right off the bat. He works harder than anyone I've played against. I have to give him that."
Doyle fouled out of his final game in an Alexandria uniform with nine points. John Vogeler came alive with 12 points in the second half after scoring just two in the first. Junior guard David Krivanek also had a nice game with 16 points, including 12 in the first 18 minutes.
The Cardinals finished the year 13-13. The Otters (18-10) will take on a 16-12 Sabres team this Thursday at St. Cloud State University with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
