Letter - Sequester is opportunity to eliminate broken programs
Sequester. Let’s see here. The president says that these cuts might, may, can, could … All words to indicate that something is possibly true or will happen in the future.
To the editor:
Sequester. Let’s see here. The president says that these cuts might, may, can, could … All words to indicate that something is possibly true or will happen in the future. He has not said will, expect, calamity, disastrous, destructive or ruinous to defense, business, organizations or individuals. But he has said the cuts will “hurt some people.”
All programs that experience reductions in funds can be expected to appeal to the emotional aspect of the action, whether true or not. Thus, our schools, local government and food shelf when faced with budget issues use that phrase: This might hurt some people.
All programs, whether they be in public or private, outlive themselves. Our evolving society guarantees the need to change. We need to think of this sequester as an opportunity to eliminate the broken programs.
