“The Otto Bremer Foundation and Bremer Bank are committed to building healthy communities,” said David Kjos, president of Bremer Bank in Alexandria. “It’s gratifying that our owner and partner, the Otto Bremer Foundation, has offered its backing to this great organization, which provides critical housing services to support the overall health of the county.”
In December 2012, the HFHDC Board of Directors approved the purchase of a permanent location for Habitat’s work in Douglas County, located at 1211 North Nokomis Northeast in Alexandria.
As part of this strategic investment, the affiliate is looking to broaden its effectiveness by adding a ReStore as a component of its mission.
Currently, HFHDC relies almost exclusively on charitable contributions from individuals and business partners to fund its mission. The Otto Bremer Foundation award will help the affiliate expand its revenue sources to include sustainable funding from the sale of donated items.
In addition to increasing sustainable funding opportunities, this project will increase opportunities for volunteer engagement.
