Freshman Brendon Coyer, 106 pounds, finished third overall at the State Class A individual wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Saturday.
Coyer opened with a pin over Tyler Bare of Atiking in 3:48, then fell to Jared Clawiter of Kenyon-Wanamingo 9-5, dropping him into the wrestlebacks.
There, Coyer earned a 4-1 decision over Brady Zitzman of BOLD, a 10-2 decision over Andrew Nissen of Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena/Indus and a 5-0 decision over Brock Buysse of Minneota to reach the third place match.
Coyer finished the day with a 7-6 win over Wyatt Stevens of Windom/Mountain Lake for his medal.
