James Kenneth “Jim” Schultz, 68, Miltona, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at his home following an extended illness.

James Kenneth “Jim” Schultz, 68, Miltona, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at his home following an extended illness.

James was born May 26, 1944 to John and Evelyn (Wilke) Schultz in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He grew up in Carlos Township and attended Country School District #69 and District #55.

He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. Following his education, he worked as a truck driver for Rasmussen Trucking. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in July of 1965 through May of 1967, serving in Vietnam for a year. Following his honorable discharge, Jim returned home and drove can milk truck for Mike Steidl.

Jim was united in marriage to Deanna Weisgram on June 20, 1969 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Miltona Township where they raised their family and continued living. He drove truck for Local Gas, R & R Concrete, Miltona Creamery and CSI.

Jim was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Miltona V.F.W. He was a former member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deanna; son, Paul (Tina) Schultz of Bemidji; daughter, Brenda (Don) Melander of Scandia; two brothers, Marlo (Lil) Schultz of North Bend, Oregon and John (Marie) Schultz of Miltona; sister, Barb (Glen) Fuller of Pine River; five grandchildren, Haley, Blake, Hannah, Madison and McKenzie; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Linda; three brothers, Marlin Schultz, Gary Schultz and Wayne Schultz; and sister, Marlys Steidl.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 26 at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona with the Rev. Stephen Olson officiating. Music was provided by organist, Kevin Lee. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Miltona with full military honors.

Pallbearers were Pat Schultz, Mike Schultz, Shawn Tischer, Danny Steidl, Ted Steidl and Jeremy Fuller. Honorary pallbearers were Darren Nelson, Rhiney Luedeke, Ralph Beulke and Ernie Salvog.
