Lenten series planned

The First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria will host a Lenten series, titled “We Care,” featuring special presenters on Wednesday evenings.

The First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria will host a Lenten series, titled “We Care,” featuring special presenters on Wednesday evenings.

Soup and sandwich suppers begin at 5:30 p.m., with the programs at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Following are the scheduled presentations:

February 27: Dr. Lowell Anderson, expert on Palestine, will speak about the conditions that Palestinians live with and about organizations that promote justice there. Participants will be invited to write letters supporting justice for Palestinians.

March 6: There will be a presentation on what Church World Service does to help victims of disasters. Participants are invited to bring any of the following items for hygiene kits to be packaged and sent to Church World Service: hand towel, wash cloth, wide tooth comb, nail clipper, unopened bar of soap, unopened toothbrush and six standard size Band-Aids.

March 13: Peace In, Peace Out, a book by Joan Steffend, will be used to provide ways individuals can think and act to improve how they interact with others to create peace. Participants will make suggestions, plans and pledges to carry out ideas.

March 20: Speakers from Minnesota Adoption Resource Network will talk about children ages 12-18 presently in the foster care system, who are in need of adoptive permanent families.

The fellowship hall is handicapped accessible. A free will donation will be accepted for the supper. For more information, call (320) 763-3341.
