World Day of Prayer to be observed
First Lutheran Church, 822 Douglas Street in Alexandria, will host the 2013 World Day of Prayer Worship Service on Friday, March 1.
First Lutheran Church, 822 Douglas Street in Alexandria, will host the 2013 World Day of Prayer Worship Service on Friday, March 1. A coffee hour will begin at 9 a.m., with the worship service to follow at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March.
Services begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on the day of celebration.
The women of France, this year’s writer country, have chosen the theme “I Was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me.”
