Take 'grown-up' field trip to St. Paul

Alexandria Community Education has a bus trip scheduled for Friday, March 8, leaving the Discovery Middle School parking lot in Alexandria at 8 a.m. and returning about 6 p.m. Take one bus, but choose one of two ways to spend the day.

The group going to the Minnesota History Center will join host Rachel Barduson to experience interactive exhibits. The exhibits include the Greatest Generation, the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, Minnesota and the Civil War, Grainland, Open House: If These Walls Could Talk and a weather exhibit.

On this trip, get behind the counter of a 1930s soda fountain, watch a recreation of a World War II combat flight in a C-47 plane, join a Rosie the Riveter-style assembly line packing ammunition shells, see an M-8 armored vehicle, a 1955 Ford sedan and more.

The cost for this trip is $49 plus lunch money.

To spend a day at the Minnesota Historical Society Library, join local family researcher Barb Johnson. Minnesota birth and death records, old newspapers, local histories, manuscripts and more are available there.
