Girls' basketball: Osakis holds off Browerville
By: Lori Mork, Alexandria Echo Press
A determined Browerville team rallied back from a 12-point halftime deficit to go basket-for-basket in the second half against Osakis Friday night, but the Silverstreaks’ first half lead held up for a final 54-42 victory.
“Browerville came in and worked very hard tonight,” said head coach Pat Kalpin. “You have to give them credit, they simply outworked us in many aspects of the game. Despite that, we were fortunate enough to come out on top with a win.
“The girls didn’t shoot the ball very well, something that we’ve been doing pretty well the past couple of weeks,” he added. “We know that shooting isn’t always going to be consistent, but defense should be consistent.”
Annalise Savageau did find her shot in that first half for Osakis as she scored 15 of her game-high 21 points, including three from three-point range.
Chisholm scored seven in the game for the Silverstreaks, while Becka Sadlemyer had eight and Madi Forsell 14.
The Silverstreaks are now 20-3 overall and 12-1 in conference play.
Osakis will play their final regular season game of the year tomorrow, Thursday, at home when they host West Central Area. It will also be Senior Night.
