Girls' basketball: Bench leads Brandon-Evansville
The Brandon-Evansville girls’ basketball team moved to 11-8 behind a Little Eight Conference win over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in a 62-44 game last Thursday.
The Chargers got 13 points from Carlie Steffenson and 10 points, five rebounds and three steals from Megan Friedrich. Emma Friedrich was the catalyst with 17 points and nine rebounds. The Chargers hit 19-of-47 shots from the field and added 17 free throws in 22 attempts.
“We played well at times,” head coach Dick Simpson said. “Hillcrest always tries hard. The part I was most pleased about was we were up 38-29 and Megan Friedrich got her fourth foul. We had four subs in the game, and they went on a 13-5 run. That was nice to see. They did pretty well.”
Brandon-Evansville has just one game this week but it’s a big one against the team right in front of it in the LEC standings. Battle Lake comes to Brandon tomorrow, Thursday, with a 7-4 LEC mark. The Chargers are 6-5 and trying to pull into a tie for third place in the league.
