Alexandria girls' hockey: Card skaters earn top seed
The path to the state tournament for the Alexandria girls’ hockey team started at home last night, Tuesday, as the Cardinals were named the top seed in the Section 6A field.
Alexandria took its 17-6-2 record into the Runestone Community Center for a 7 p.m. drop of the puck against Detroit Lakes after the Lakers beat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek 3-2 on Saturday.
Alexandria is one of just two teams in the section with a winning record. Fergus Falls is the second seed despite having a 9-13-2 record. Third-seeded Northern Lakes is 13-11 after beating a 4-18 and sixth-seeded Morris-Benson Area team on Saturday.
Tuesday night’s winners will advance to the section title game this Friday. The section championship will be played on Friday, February 15 at 7 p.m. The neutral site of the game has yet to be released.
