Alex girls' hockey: Cards named top seed in Section 6A field
The path to the state tournament for the Alexandria girls’ hockey team will start at home next Tuesday as the Cardinals, as expected, were named the top seed in the Section 6A field.
Alexandria will take its 17-6-2 record into the Runestone Community Center for a 7 p.m. drop of the puck on Tuesday against either Detroit Lakes or Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek. Those two teams play at 7 p.m. on Saturday for the right to face the Cardinals.
Alexandria is one of just two teams in the section with a winning record. Fergus Falls is the second seed despite having a 9-13-2 record. Northern Lakes is 12-11 and the third seed. Morris-Benson Area rounds out the field as the sixth seed with a 4-18 mark.
The section championship will be played on Friday, February 15 at 7 p.m. The neutral site of the game has yet to be released.
