Many families dream of owning a home of their own, but for some this dream seems far off. Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County (HFHDC) wants to help local families realize this dream.
HFHDC will host an open house on Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a Habitat home, 1013 Darling Avenue East, Alexandria. Families can learn how partnership with Habitat may be able to help them realize their dreams of homeownership.
Families will be able to meet with Habitat staff and committee members who can answer their questions. They will be able to see a completed home and learn about the green building practices that Habitat uses to help create an energy efficient home, which means ongoing affordability for a family. Interested families will also be able to complete and submit an application.
In 2012, four families realized their dream of homeownership because of their partnership with HFHDC.
Those who have dreamed of owning a home or those who know someone who wants to own a home should visit the open house and learn more about how Habitat may be able to help.
