The Osakis girls have a pretty good closer in junior guard Annalise Savageau and the Silverstreaks used her to pull out a 51-46 win over Litchfield on Saturday afternoon.

Savageau had 22 of her game-high 27 points after halftime as Osakis held on for its sixth straight win to move to 16-2 on the season.

“Annalise really had a great second half,” head coach Pat Kalpin said. “She was able to go on a run to give us the lead.”

The Silverstreaks needed almost every one of those points against Litchfield team that wouldn’t go away. Savageau had a stretch of three straight triples that gave Osakis a 10-point lead. With almost a minute left, the Dragons had cut that lead to three. Osakis missed the front end of a one-and-one but freshman Brittney Sadlemyer was there for the offensive rebound and a put-back that all but sealed it for her team.

“I felt that play was one of the biggest of the game,” Kalpin said. “That took away some momentum that Litchfield gained. It was again, a great team win for the team.”

The Silverstreaks shot 48 percent from the field and went 7-of-13 from behind the three-point line. They also had 15 assists on their 18 made field goals.

“Litchfield is such a big and physical team,” Kalpin said. “They made it real tough to get shots in the paint. We had to rely on our perimeter shooting to win this game.”

Brooke Sorenson was the team’s second leading scorer with eight points. Sadlemyer and Madi Forsell each added six points to help put the game away.
