The Alexandria boys’ basketball team lost another tight game with a Central Lakes Conference opponent as Sartell held on for a 58-56 win on Monday night.
The Sabres’ Ben Lanners hit one of two free throws to make it a two-point lead with seven seconds left. Alexandria had one last chance but a desperation three came up empty.
Doyle had 15 points to lead four Cardinals’ players in double figures. Brandon Bistodeau added 12, John Vogeler had 11 and David Krivanek finished with 10. Parker Hagen led Sartell with 17, while Tom Bearson added 16.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 5-10 overall and to 3-7 in the CLC. They will welcome in the conference leader tonight, Friday, as Brainerd comes to town with a 16-1 record and a perfect 9-0 mark in league play.
