A team of volunteers is forming an Honor Guard at Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria.
The Honor Guard is an on-call team that offers companionship to those in the dying process who may not have family or friends that can be present. The goal of the Honor Guard is that no one dies alone.
In partnership with St. Croix Hospice, an organizational and education event is being held on Tuesday, February 12 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Ecumen.
The education session will include grief, care for the dying and spirituality, which will give the volunteer team the tools they need to be this companion.
The public is invited to attend or join the Honor Guard.
