Alexandria broke out after a slow start, defeating Sauk Rapids-Rice 63-38 Friday night on the road, improving the Cardinal girls’ record to 11-7 overall and 10-3 in Central Lakes Conference action.
“We had so many excellent passes against the Storm zone, executing beautifully to create many assisted points for each other,” said head coach Wendy Kohler. “Everyone was flying defensively and Top 20 attitudes are such a key component to the chemistry of this team.”
Amanda Christianson was one of three Cardinal players in double figures as she scored 19 points, with Karly Betterman adding 14 and Kalli Bowser 11.
Amanda Gould dropped in six, Kendall Kohler five, Dani Strater two, Macy Hatlestad 2, Jaylen Olsen-Rodel 2 and Jessica Syvrud 2.
“Our team defensive scheme is getting tougher as we go, and it allows us many extra offensive opportunities,” said the coach.
Alexandria will host St. Cloud Tech tomorrow night, Thursday.
