Trent Piepenburg, Blake Olhausen and Justin Cumberbatch picked up individual championships, leading the Cardinal wrestling team to a fourth place finish in the annual Big Ole Invitational.

Cumberbatch was named the outstanding wrestler in the tournament.

Unranked Moorhead edged out state-ranked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and Frazee for the title as the Spuds scored 189 points, just one-half point ahead of the Fighting Saints and two points ahead of the Hornets.

Piepenburg whipped through his first match at 113 pounds with a 45 seconds pin over Lee Spencer of Wadena-Deer Creek, then decisioned Byron Byer of Frazee 7-5 before defeating Jordan Engler of KMS 3-0 in the championship.

Olhausen, wrestling at 120 pounds, earned an 11-0 major decision over Matt Sollid of Moorhead in the first match of the day, then decisioned Nick Meyer of KMS 11-4 before stopping Jordan Ketter of Frazee 4-0 in the championship.

Cumberbatch had an opening round bye at 220 pounds, then picked up a 3-1 win over Bryce Kirchner of St. Cloud Apollo in overtime before topping Joel Harrison of Morris 11-4 in the championship.

Cardinal Tony Hubbard finished second at 145 pounds, pinning Jacob Lutterman of Minnewaska in 57 seconds, decisioning Kyle Baker of KMS 4-3. He fell to Grant Nehring of

St. Cloud Apollo 7-0 in the

championship.

Mike Schluter, 170 pounds, was third for the Cardinals, while Ben Bogart, 106 pounds, and Jacob Schiltgen, 132 pounds, were fourth.

Dustin Neu, 152 pounds, and Shawn Nelson, 195 pounds, finished fifth with Tristan Johnson, 126 pounds, and Jake Nienaber, 138 pounds, finishing sixth.

Minnewaska’s Joseph Weaver, 106 pounds, and Ryan Stottler, 160 pounds, were third.
