Alexandria speech team takes second

The Alexandria Speech Team took second place at the Albany Speech Tournament on February 2. The team sent 19 members and won 18 ribbons. Those who placed first were Lydia Gusaas in extemporaneous reading and Miranda Musik in informative speaking.

In creative expression, Hailee Saxton earned an honorable mention, Claire Wilmesmeier won second place, McKayla Petrie won fifth place and Kathryn Dusterhoft took fourth place.

First time competitor Mason Settler took fourth place in discussion. Taking fifth place in serious drama was Paige Mackadenza.

Daniel Roers took third place in great speeches. Kylee Johnson took second in humorous interpretation and Mari Senstad took fourth place in serious prose.

Fifth place was given to Ian Heseltine in storytelling. The two duo teams were Miranda Muzik and Samantha Engstrom, who took fourth, and Kathryn Johnson and Anthony Turdik, who took fifth.

Kerrie Speer, Caroline Petefish, Krista Kirby and Erica Fulghum coach the speech team.

The team will host its tournament on February 26, which is open for the public to attend.
