Bernadine Ann “Rusty” Lommen, 83, gave her heart to Jesus on December 28 and received her eternal reward on January 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Bernadine Ann “Rusty” Lommen, 83, gave her heart to Jesus on December 28 and received her eternal reward on January 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Bernadine was born October 7, 1929 in Echo, the daughter of Stanford and Josephine (Maakestad) Holland. She grew up in Echo and graduated from school in 1947.
Rusty moved to Alexandria in 1948, where she met Adrian Lommen at First Lutheran Church. There they sang in the choir and performed duets together. Rusty and Adrian were married in 1949.
Rusty worked at Echo High School, Alexandria Clinic, Viking Motel, Curt Carlson Companies and Douglas County Courthouse for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially vacationing with her sisters. She was an avid lover of animals and will be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit.
She is survived by her two children, Hollan Lommen of Lowry and Rebecca (Dennis) Conn of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Cameron Lommen, Alicia (Nate) Morrissette, Stephanie (Jerry) Revering, Stacie (Art) Witschorik and Jakob Widmark; sister, Eileen Holland; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Lommen; parents, Stanford and Josephine Holland, Ed and Emma Lommen; brother, Cliff Holland; sisters, Avis Rey, Mag Sebey and June Oppel; sisters-in-law and brothers in law.
A memorial service was held Monday, January 28 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Marilee Bergerson officiating. Burial was at Geneva Cemetery.
