Harold was born May 5, 1926, the son of Albin and Jennie (Anderson) Anderson at their home in Spruce Hill Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church. Harold helped his dad and Uncle Clarence on the family farm until 1950.

In 1950, Harold was drafted into the United States Army and did his basic training at Fort Riley Kansas, HQ 1st BN 86th Infantry. He served his country in Korea until 1952 and was then honorably discharged at Camp Carson in Colorado.

After serving his country, Harold returned to Minnesota where he worked at the Stillwater State Prison for a short time. He then moved to Alexandria where he married Lillian Harbig on June 17, 1953.

After their marriage, Harold worked for Miltona Meats and Hewitt Oil until the family moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1960. While living in Grand Rapids, Harold worked for Viking Oil. The family returned to Alexandria in 1965 and he became a partner at Hewitt Oil. In later years, he worked for DryMor Industries and WASP, where he retired in 1991.

Harold enjoyed woodworking and fishing. His biggest joy was visiting with family and friends and telling jokes. Harold’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; son, Ross (Roxane) of Elk River; daughter, Kelly (Doug) Wald of Edgeley, ND; daughter-in-law, Debra, of Alexandria; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Marcy) Anderson, Justin Anderson, Cassandra Anderson, Brittany Anderson and Hunter Wald; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Schultz and Kayla Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stanley; and sister, Margaret Ondracek.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Kari VanWakeren officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.
