Alexandria high school bands to give concert

On Monday, January 28, the Alexandria Jefferson High School (JHS) bands will present their annual winter band concert in the JHS gym at 7 p.m.

Ensembles featured include the JHS Jazz II, Jazz I, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. The concert will also feature a brass group from Minneapolis, the Copper Street Brass Quintet.

The Copper Street Brass Quintet will perform a selection with each of the concert bands. It will spend a three-day artist in residency in the Alexandria schools doing master classes and clinics with both the JHS and Discovery Middle School band students.

The Copper Street Brass Quintet is sponsored by the Lake Region Arts Council. This activity is funded by the Minnesota Arts and cultural heritage fund.
